Sally Day (BMus MMus) has over twenty-five years experience of teaching the clarinet privately, in independent schools and in further education. A natural teacher, she enjoys helping each student along their unique musical path. She is happy to teach at every level, enjoying the freshness and excitement of a beginner’s first lessons as much as exploring great works with advanced students. An accomplished pianist, she is able to accompany her pupils and has done so in exams up to ARSM performance diploma (post-Grade 8) level.
Sally has bachelors and masters degrees in performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She has worked with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Opera North, the Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Scottish Opera as well as on recording sessions at Abbey Road and Air Studios. As a member of the Scottish Clarinet Quartet, she has been involved in the commissioning and performance of new works, including for four bass clarinets.
